The New Brunswick Christian Ashram, like all United Christian Ashrams, is inter-denominational and inter-racial. Titles and other symbols of distinction are set aside that we may worship as true brothers and sisters in Christ. This 3-day retreat is held the second weekend in August in the beautiful Beulah Camp in Brown’s Flat, New Brunswick. The scenic Long Reach of Saint John River is the backdrop for a time of sharing and spiritual growth.
Evangelist
David Edwards was born and educated in Shropshire, England. He initially worked as a high school history teacher prior to pursuing ordained ministry in the Church of England. Both prior to and following his ordination in 1995, David served in the Chelmsford Diocese in England, including as Bishop's Advisor in Evangelism and in the Parish of High Ongar. He moved to New Brunswick in 1998 to be Principal of Taylor College of Evangelism. He then served in parishes in Saint John. David was elected the tenth Bishop of the Anglican church in New Brunswick in 2014. He became the senior bishop of the area covering Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces in 2020.
Bible Teacher
Serving God and inspiring others has been a hallmark of Michael Austin's life as a devoted Christian. It was at the age of eighteen, addicted to drugs and alcohol and with thoughts of suicide, he had a life changing "road to Damascus" encounter with Jesus on a cold winter's night and was instantly delivered and set free from all addiction. Shortly after that, he followed a new journey into the ministry and was a co-founder of Tabernacle Life Church where he is presently Senior Pastor. With a heart for preaching the gospel to the lost and deliverance to those who are bound, he strives to make a difference in his community and beyond. Mike has been attending the NB Christian Ashram the last three years as the man behind the drums in the worship music team. We are pleased to welcome him back as our Bible Teacher.
Local Director
The New Brunswick Christian Ashram grew out of the success enjoyed by the Atlantic Christian Ashram and the desire by the New Brunswick members of the Atlantic to bring the Ashram movement to New Brunswick.
Our first Ashram was held in New Brunswick in 2001, and this year we are celebrating our 20th consecutive Ashram, with a three year pause caused by the pandemic.
The Ashram movement has always meant a lot to our family as a place to come apart from the world, to enjoy God's creation in beautiful place, and to reconnect with what it means to know that JESUS IS LORD!
