About Us

United Christian Ashrams International

The United Christian Ashrams International (UCAI) is led by a small support staff, as well as an ecumenical, volunteer Board of Directors. Our mission is to inspire the transformation of all persons to be followers of Jesus Christ, and thereby discover, renew, and deepen relationships with God, ourselves, and others.

UCAI is made up of member local Christian Ashrams from across the United States and Canada and around the world. The movement was begun in 1930 by E. Stanley Jones, an Indian preacher Yunas Sinha, and  British missionary Ethel Turner at Sat Tal Estate near Nainital, India. We still have strong ties with the Sat Tal Christian Ashram.

John Davis, Georganne Leonard, Roberto Escamilla, Bob Hayes, Ed Hird

UCAI is organized under a Board of Directors led by Wade Paschal as its President. The Board of Directors is   advised by The Four, who serve as the “Guardians of the Soul of the Christian Ashram.” They help us keep true to the fundamental spiritual purpose of the Christian Ashram. Currently, The Four is made up of John Davis, Georganne Leonard, Ed Hird, and Bob Hayes, shown here with Roberto Escamilla. Brother Roberto was one of the original Four installed in 1972. He served for 50 years.

The Council of Local Christian Ashram Directors works with the Board and is chaired by Wesley Hunter.

The UCAI Central Office is in Ruston, Louisiana. UCAI Staff include Matt Henson, Executive Director; Tom Albin, Director of Development and Mission Coordinator; Lisa Chandler, Office Manager; and Mission Coordinators, John Davis and Donna Bell Sanders.
