The newly formed Central Valley Christian Ashram is being sponsored by First United Methodist Church and the Redwood Christian Ashram. Held in Bakersfield, California in early February, this 2-day event gives a chance for people across Kern County and beyond to experience an Ashram close to home.
Evangelist
A born and bred Methodist, Gary and his family have participated in Christian Ashrams since their children were young. Gary has recently retired from many years of pastoral service but continues to serve in a variety of ways including working with United Christian Ashrams. In addition to his pastoral service, Gary enjoys his life with Sybella, his wife of 40+ years. They both enjoy music, especially singing, and then pursue divergent interests: she loves to garden, and he relishes woodworking.
Bible Teacher
Dave served as pastor to Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Modesto for 36 years. Prior to Trinity United he served 10 years in camps and conference ministries. He is presently serving the Presbytery of Northern California and Nevada as “Pastor to Pastors.” He and his wife Gayle have three grown children and 5 grandchildren. The Kerr family has attended Ashrams since 1986. Dave has been a speaker and teacher at many camps, conferences, and retreats including Redwood Christian Ashram. He loves to bring the Bible alive and its truths relevant to faith and life.
Co-Directors
We are excited about hosting this new event right in our own home town. The Redwood Christian Ashram has been part of our lives for over 20 years. We're delighted to have a chance to share what it means to us with folks here in central California. We might not have the beautiful Redwood trees, but we're looking forward to experiencing the love of God with open and overflowing hearts!
