The Minnesota Christian Ashram began in 1985 when Brother Bill Berg, one of the original “Four”, and friend and colleague of Brother Stanley Jones, was convinced that we needed an Ashram in Minnesota and just knew the time was right. Through prayer and the work of many people, the Minnesota Ashram celebrated its first summer Ashram at Villa Maria, a former convent which had been converted into a retreat center.
A unique feature of the MN Ashram is that we have held our Ashrams in a convent, two colleges, a camp, and now a church. We have discovered that the venue doesn’t matter – the fellowship and spiritual growth happens wherever we are and “Jesus is Lord” in every place!
Another unique feature of the MN Ashram has been our incorporation of theater and creative arts and music to teach and celebrate Ashram principles. One example was a skit called the “March of the Christian Ashram Decades”, telling the Ashram story from the 1930’s to the 2000’s. We have also had a variety show each year, where participants can use their talents to praise the Lord and also add some good humor and laughter to our weekend.
Join us as we spend time with each other and the Unchanging Person, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who can and does change lives, wherever we are.
